Philadelphia closes all FREE Libraries

September 14, 2009

in This is a joke, right?

ALL FREE libraries in Philadelphia will be closing their doors effective October 2nd 2009.

I can understand a state being in a budget crisis, but the library? And this so-called Plan C crapola budget includes eliminating court-system funding, shutting down all recreation centers and laying off up to 3,000 workers, including police and firefighters. Fun times.

It just seems unheard of to me. You’d think things that benefit a community would be one of the last things to be cut.

Help save the libraries!

This is outrageous! I can’t believe that this is the first that I have heard about this. Hey, if they are allowed to close the libraries in Philly, then other communities will think it is OK for them to do. Our free library system is one of the few places that knowledge is open and free to anyone. Philly’s libraries MUST be saved!

Tell everyone you know, to tell everyone that they know!
