The other day, I wrote about the nook, the oddly named E-Book reader from Barnes & Noble.
One of the coolest features of the nook is the ability to “loan” e-books out out to other nook users. While this feature is included, the limitations were not made clear until today.
According to Geek.com,
On the surface, it’s a great feature. Just like a physical book, you can take an e-book you are reading on the Nook and give it to someone else to read when you’re done. But then the limitation came out…
The Limits:
The person who gets the book only has 14 days to read the copy.
You can’t share any book you want via the Nook: it’s up to publisher if they want to allow that feature.
You can also only lend any book once.
You can’t read your copy of the book while someone else is reading it.
Hmmm… I am paying for an e-book, but may or may not be able to share the e-book, then, if I do decide to share it, I only get to do so once and the person has to be a unemployed speed reader?
What do you think? Good idea? Bad idea?
