Boca Beth… bringing Spanish to life!

Boca Beth… bringing Spanish to life!

Boca Beth is a great program to introduce children to speaking Spanish. It comes with a puppet (Boca) a music CD, a DVD, maraca and a coloring book, all in a cute little backpack!

My four year old was excited right away because he now had a back pack of his own like his brothers. So we encompassed Boca Beth into our preschool lessons. We put the music CD on in the background while we talked about what we were going to do.

This program is not intended to get your child having conversations in Spanish, just to expose them to the basic vocabulary and understanding of what ‘a second language is’. The coloring book shows the English and Spanish spelling of each word, so as he colors you can reiterate the pronunciation.

The video “Mi Casa/My house” takes place in Boca the puppets house. It introduces 100 words and 15 sentences in Spanish and English to your child. The cute puppet helps bring everything together. You child can use the puppet to talk back to the DVD or you can use the puppet to engage your child to help remember what he/she has seen and learned. The CD has classic children’s songs like “Skip to my Lou” and “Mary Had a Little Lamb”, so the children can recognize the tunes!

While you shouldn’t expect your child to be speaking Spanish right away with this program, it is very helpful in beginning the journey of bringing Spanish to life!
